What's New
The same notes the app shows after each update.
Build 71
- One camera for every bottle Point Scan at a barcode and it's looked up right away. No barcode? Tap the shutter and it reads the label. If a barcode isn't found, snap the front label and the barcode is saved with the bottle, so next time it's instant.
- A pour is a pour Poured One takes about 2 oz now, not a whole level, and each bottle shows about how much is left. Change the size in Settings → Pouring.
- More bottles priced Price All Bottles now finds the usual price for well-known bottles even when no store lists that exact size; those are marked as estimates.
- Redeem a Code Got a Cantino Plus code? Settings → Cantino Plus → Redeem a Code.
- What's in your kitchen? Cocktails no longer assume you have tomato juice, cream or ginger beer. Only the basics count (citrus, sugar, simple syrup, salt) until you tell Cantino what's usually in your kitchen: tap the card at the top of Cocktails. Party mode's checklist starts from the same list.
- Garnishes and drinks for every guest "Orange or lime wheel" needs only one of them, and party mode has a Zero-Proof tab for guests who aren't drinking. Holiday drinks show in their own season.
- Your icon stays put Cantino no longer changes its own app icon. Seasonal icons are in Settings → Themes, if you want them.
- Poured One, in plain sight Open a bottle's place on its page for a Poured One button. Shopping items you added have − and + beside them.
- Less waiting on a barcode If a barcode takes a while, Read the Label Instead appears. Scan's Batch switch is now called Quick Add, and Shopping mode works for label photos too.
Build 70
- Tonight's Kitchen, clearer Party mode's checklist says how many drinks your bottles already make, shows the mixers already on your shelf, and gives every item a tick for "have it" or a cart for "need it". Each one says how many drinks it adds.
- Liquor and wine, each with its own value Bar Stats shows what your liquor and your wine are worth under the shelf total, each with how many bottles it covers.
- Tap Inventory to start over Tapping the Inventory tab again clears the search and goes back to the full list.
- Help make Cantino better for everyone Cantino asks once whether you'd like to share bottle facts (never your photos, prices, notes or ratings). When two people agree on a bottle, everyone's scan of it is instant. Change it anytime in Settings.
Build 69
- Party mode shows only what you can make Starting party mode asks what you have tonight: limes, ginger beer, syrups, garnishes. The menu shows only drinks with every bottle on the shelf and everything else ticked.
- Recipes on the party menu Tap a drink or a shot to see the amounts, which bottle to pour, and how to make it.
- Liquor by kind The party menu's Liquor tab opens on Whiskey, Tequila & Mezcal, Rum, Vodka, Gin and the rest. Tap one to see those bottles; whiskey is split into bourbon, rye and scotch.
- An easy way out of party mode Tap the lock in the top corner and enter your PIN.
- About 14,500 bottles known by heart Cantino now knows thousands of spirits and wines by their barcode, from Iowa's and British Columbia's public liquor lists, many with a typical shelf price. A scan of one needs no lookup, even offline.
Build 68
- A private note with your rating Under your stars, jot what you thought. Only you can see it, even in a shared bar.
- A heads-up on bottles you didn't love Scan something you rated under 3 stars, or wouldn't buy again, and Cantino says so before you buy it, with your note.
- My Ratings Everything you've ever rated, even bottles long gone. Filter to 4 stars and up to find your favorites. In the + menu, and on the Scan screen in shopping mode.
- Save a bottle for later Every scan can go on the Shopping List for your next trip, or the Wishlist for someday, without adding it to your bar.
Build 67
- Price All Bottles Bar Stats now says how many bottles its shelf value covers. Price All Bottles looks up store prices for every bottle without one, in the background, so the value covers the whole bar.
Build 66
- Plan a Party Cocktails → Menus → Plan a Party: pick the drinks, say how many guests, and see the bottles to buy, counted against your shelf, plus fresh things and mixers. Add to Shopping puts them in their own For the party section.
- Share a recipe to Cantino In Pinterest, Safari or Instagram, tap Share and choose Cantino. The recipe opens in Cantino, ready to read and save.
- 108 more drinks Hanukkah, Derby and Fourth of July drinks, summer tiki and frozen drinks, hot winter drinks and eggnogs, and Halloween drinks from your own finds, each linked to where it came from. 624 in all.
Build 65
- 111 drinks for the seasons Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and winter, and more: Satan's Whiskers, a Maple Old Fashioned, an Apple Cider Margarita. 516 cocktails in all. The season's card on Cocktails shows them.
Build 64
- 149 more cocktails Shots and party drinks, drinks for flavored bottles like Crown Royal Peach, Fireball and RumChata, and more classics. 405 in all, each checked against two published recipes.
- Shots A Shots button on Cocktails and a Shots tab in party mode. Some cocktails also come “As a Shot”, and every card has a count for making more than one.
- Delete All My Data Settings → Your Data removes everything from this iPhone and your iCloud, after offering you a copy.
Build 63
- Party mode stays on Closing and reopening Cantino comes back to the guest menu. Only the PIN ends it, and “Forgot?” on the keypad uses the iPad's own passcode.
- Undo more Deleting a shopping item, one of your recipes, a place or a whole bar can be taken back for a few seconds.
- Wines stay apart Two wineries' Merlots are two wines now. Years of the same wine still share one card, and both sets of notes are kept.
- A guest menu for each bar Every bar's QR code shows its own menu, and stopping one leaves the others.
Build 62
- Party mode Cocktails → Menus → Party Mode turns an iPad into a menu for guests: tonight's cocktails, the liquor and the beer. Press and hold the title and enter your PIN to leave.
- Menus name the drink, not your bottle Printed and guest menus say “Rum” or “Bourbon”, and name a brand only when the drink calls for one, like Campari.
Build 60
- Well & Shelf is now Cantino Same app, same bar, new name, picked by Rod. Siri knows it too: “Hey Siri, I drank a Chunky Monkey in Cantino.”
- One card for every size Tito's 750 ml and its 1.75 L handle share one card in Inventory, with both sizes listed. Its page has a Sizes switch.
- Bottles fill themselves in Typing a bottle's name offers matching bottles from the app's own catalog. Tap one to fill in the details.
Build 59
- Tell Siri what you drank Say “Hey Siri, I drank a Chunky Monkey in Cantino.” A beer comes off the count; a bottle drops one pour.
- Stars land where you tap Tap the 4th star for 4. Tap it again for 3½, or slide across the stars.
Build 58
- Shopping mode Tap the cart on the Scan screen before you scan in a store. Each scan shows the bottle and whether the price is good, and adds nothing to your bar.
Build 57
- What's New After each update, this page tells you what changed.
Build 56
- No flavored vodka in plain drinks A Bloody Mary won't suggest Cran Apple vodka, and a Manhattan won't suggest Regal Apple. Flavored bottles still show up when a recipe asks for that flavor.
- Most Poured counts real pours Only a swipe to pour, Poured One, or a logged drink counts. Setting levels while scanning in doesn't.
- Your bar has a value Bar Stats estimates what's on the shelf from store prices when you haven't entered one.
Build 55
- One bottle, two sizes Scanning a bottle you have lets you pick its size, so a 1.75 L handle isn't added to the 750 ml. Press and hold a bottle for Different Size.
- Sizes on every card Inventory shows each bottle's size, like “1.75 L”.
- “+1 elsewhere” When more of a bottle is in another place, its card says so under the count.
